This was a personal project that I set myself, with the aim of creating a small watering can for houseplants which took inspiration from or mimicked a natural form that compliments its function.

I sketched a few rough ideas and landed on two which I recreated in digital format. Out of these concepts (below) I preferred the silhouette of the ‘Cactus’ idea. To me it was a nice blend of the curved form of each arm with the sharp angles whilst also retaining crucial functionality.

I took this design into CAD and did some test prints of different proportions to find the right level of comfort when pouring, and the most suitable height for the spout to create a smooth flow of water.

If this product were to be manufactured on a larger scale, I would like to use an eco resin or natural material, similar to those found in some re-usable coffee cups.
